TV Multi-camera Sitcom Format
For this course, use the master scene script format for all types of TV shows. The following is for your information only.
There are a number of differences in the way a multi-camera sitcom script is formatted.
Multi-camera sitcoms
Friends, Seinfeld, The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, Two Broke Girls, How I Met Your Mother.
Single-camera sitcoms
Community, Last Man on Earth, Modern Family, New Girl, Parks and Recreation, The Mindy Project,Kimmy Schmidt, 30 Rock.
Differences in a multi-camera sitcom script
- Scene Headings are underlined
- Dialogue is double-spaced
- Action is capitalized
- Sound effects are capitalized and underlined
Page count
Single-camera sitcom scripts are in the 22 to 32 page range.
Multi-camera scripts, because of their formatting, would be more in the 50+ page range.
